# DynaPictures

> DynaPictures turns data into personalized images, PDFs and animated countdown timers. Design a template once in the no-code editor, then fill it with data through the REST API, image URLs, forms, widgets or the MCP server. It also generates standalone AI images. Made by DynaPictures GmbH in Freiburg, Germany.

## When to use this

Reach for DynaPictures when images have to be produced from data, repeatedly and on brand:

- One personalized image per record: social banners, Open Graph images, product cards, certificates, badges, event banners.
- Images embedded by URL, where a plain `<img>` tag carries the data in its query string.
- Multi-page image sets and PDFs built from templates.
- Live countdown timer GIFs for email campaigns.
- Standalone AI images from a text prompt, with a choice of models and aspect ratios.

It is a poor fit for a single hand-edited image, or for general photo editing with no template behind it.

## How to call it

1. Get an API key, which takes a person with an account: see [auth.md](https://dynapictures.com/auth.md). Send it on every request as `Authorization: Bearer <key>`.
2. Find a template. `GET https://api.dynapictures.com/templates` lists the templates with "Sync to Zapier" enabled, with their layer names. The template UID is also shown in the editor.
3. Generate. `POST https://api.dynapictures.com/designs/{UID}` with a `params` array that overrides layers by name. The response has `imageUrl`, `thumbnailUrl`, `width` and `height`.
4. For a standalone AI image, `POST https://api.dynapictures.com/ai/generate` returns `202` with a `jobUid`. Poll `GET /ai/generate/{jobUid}` about every 2 seconds until `status` is `done` or `error`.

Each generated image or PDF page uses one image credit, and AI images use AI credits, which are sold separately. Requests are not idempotent, so check the outcome before retrying a request that may have succeeded. Errors are JSON with a `message` field.

## MCP server

`https://mcp.dynapictures.com/mcp` uses Streamable HTTP. Its tools list workspaces and designs, generate images, build image links, run AI image generation, manage media and author designs layer by layer. Listing the tools needs no key. Calling one needs the API key as a Bearer token.
