Does the MP4 loop like the GIF?

Will the quality drop?

H.264 is lossy, but at the setting used here the difference is not visible on typical GIF content. Colors often look better, because the video is not restricted to 256 colors per frame.

What happens to transparency?

MP4 has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a solid background. If you need transparency, keep the GIF or use an animated WebP instead.
