Create your Facebook share link
Paste the page URL and copy the link. Facebook takes the link only; the visitor writes the post in Facebook's own dialog.
Every registrant leaves with an I'm attending banner to post
Facebook is where friends and family see that someone is going, and an attendee's post reaches people no event page or ad would. With DynaPictures Event Marketing, a widget on your thank-you page lets every registrant make an I'm attending banner, and each share to Facebook carries its own tracked short link.
- An attendee widget, inline or as a popup
- Never asks the attendee for an email
- Shares and clicks by channel and country
How to make a Facebook share link
Paste your page
Use the public URL of the event page, registration form or article. Facebook reads its og:title and og:image for the preview.
Add the UTM tags
Fill in source, medium and campaign, for example facebook, social and the event name, so Facebook visits are labelled in your analytics.
Copy and test
Copy the facebook.com/sharer link or the HTML, place it on your page or in your email, and press Open to see Facebook's dialog.
Why make Facebook share links here
The sharer link, no app ID
facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php with your page in the u parameter: the plain-link share button that needs no Facebook app ID or SDK.
No Facebook script on your site
A plain link loads nothing from Facebook until someone clicks it, unlike an embedded share plugin.
Visits you can attribute
UTM tags ride along on the shared URL, so every visit from a Facebook post lands in your analytics under your source and campaign.
HTML ready for a button
Copy a link element with the ampersands escaped and a new-tab target, then style it as your Facebook button.
Built on your device
Nothing is uploaded or saved, and there is no daily limit or sign-up.
How Facebook shares a link
Facebook's sharer takes the page URL only and ignores pre-filled text, so the person sharing writes the post. The preview card comes from the page's Open Graph tags: og:title, og:description and og:image, where 1200x630 pixels is the common size. Facebook caches that card, so after changing the image or title, paste the URL into the Sharing Debugger in Meta for Developers and scrape it again. Facebook has to reach your page to build the card, so a page behind a login cannot show its own preview. Anyone not logged in to Facebook is asked to log in before posting.
Free limits
No daily limit and no login; the link is assembled in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Suggested words
Facebook's dialog opens without your text, so put a sentence people can copy next to the button.
Preview the card
The free Open Graph Checker shows how Facebook will display your page before you hand out the link.
Facebook share link questions
Paste your page URL into the form and copy the result: facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u= followed by your encoded URL. Whoever clicks it gets Facebook's share dialog with your page attached.
